Job summary

Leggett & Platt is hiring for a first, second, or third shift operator position focused on rubber processing and mill operations in Morris, IL. You will monitor batches, control mill parameters, and keep production lines running smoothly while maintaining safety and clean work areas.

The role offers hourly pay, eligibility for annual performance increases, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical/dental/vision and retirement options.

Responsibilities

• Checks consistency of dropped batches and alerts supervisor of any poorly mixed batches
• Maintains a steady stream of rubber from the dump mill to the calender box
• Adjusts water valves and nip gap on dump and strip mills to ensure proper rubber adhesion to front bowl
• Keeps conveyor belts and belt rollers clear of any excess rubber
• Retrieves tails from Line 2 calender and places them back onto strip mill
• Has a working knowledge of the safety devices on the mills and calender
• Assists the calender operator when needed
• Keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards
• Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities related to product, process and the system
• Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected

1st shift - 7am-3pm
2nd shift - 3pm-11pm
3rd shift - 11pm-7am

Hourly pay ranges from $21.19 to $21.51 based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is eligible for an annual performance increase, subject to or based on individual performance, business results, budgetary constraints, and other factors.
