Job summary

UFP Industries in Ohio is seeking a Saw Operator I to set up and operate a single-blade saw. You will read production schedules and identify required material, ensuring quality and safety in a structured manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• At least 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment.
• Working knowledge of basic math is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a single-blade saw.
• Read production scheduling sheets and identify required material.
• Ensure materials meet quality specifications (grade, size, moisture, etc.).
• Perform setups according to specifications.
• Feed material according to specifications.
• Periodically inspect equipment to ensure specifications are met.
• Offload and stack material following procedures; label and band finished components if required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensures material meets quality specifications grade, size, moisture content, etc.
• Performs setups according to specifications.
• Feeds material according to specifications.
• Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are being met.
• Offloads and stacks material in accordance with established procedures, and if required, may cover, label and band components finished product.
• Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate.
• Completes pre-shift-startup equipment inspection checklist and reports any problems or concerns.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
• Maintains production records as required.
• Checks materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards.
• Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.
• Performs LOTO as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance as specified.
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma GED is preferred but not required.
• Minimum 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
