Job summary

UFP Industries in New London, NC is seeking a Saw Operator I responsible for setup and operation of a single-blade saw, reading production scheduling sheets and identifying required material for the operation.

You will ensure materials meet quality specs, perform setups, feed material, monitor equipment, and maintain a clean, safe work area while recording production data.

This role requires at least 18, basic math, and 3 months of saw experience; Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 3 months experience using saws or similar equipment.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a single-blade saw according to specifications.
• Read production scheduling sheets and identify required material.
• Ensure material meets quality specifications (grade, size, moisture content, etc.).
• Perform setups according to specifications and feed material as required.
• Periodically check equipment to ensure specifications are met.
• Offload and stack material following procedures and label/band components if required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area; ensure equipment is safe to operate.
• Complete pre-shift startup inspection checklist and report problems.
• Maintain production records as required and check finished products for compliance.
• Follow safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards, including LOTO as required.
• Participate in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensures material meets quality specifications grade, size, moisture content, etc.
• Performs setups according to specifications.
• Feeds material according to specifications.
• Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are being met.
• Offloads and stacks material in accordance with established procedures, and if required, may cover, label and band components finished product.
• Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate.
• Completes pre-shift-startup equipment inspection checklist and reports any problems or concerns.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
• Maintains production records as required.
• Checks materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards.
• Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.
• Performs LOTO as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance as specified.
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma GED is preferred but not required.
• Minimum 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
