Job summary

CMC is a Fortune 500 company seeking a maintenance associate in Martinsburg, WV to support steel, reinforcement, and ground stabilization operations. You’ll assist with routine repairs, startup/shutdown tasks, and equipment maintenance while contributing to a safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to learn quickly and multitask.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willing to work a rotating shift, including weekends/holidays.
• Demonstrated dependability and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed.
• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and uphold the CMC Safety Culture.
• Perform minor maintenance or repairs as needed without supervision.
• Troubleshoot problems using job knowledge and teamwork.
• Understand startup, shutdown and emergency procedures.
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are completed each shift.
• Maintain housekeeping in the immediate work area.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE.
• Operate pendant crane to transfer wire spindle replacement.
• Gather order specifications, rolling sequences and bundle perimeters.
• Repair roll stand and guide equipment as needed.
• Use measuring equipment to maintain rolling mill settings.

What You'll Do

• Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed
• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
• Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel
• Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
• Assist maintenance personnel when requested or needed
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
• Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by always following safety rules and regulations including proper wearing of company PPE
• Operate pendant crane to transfer wire spindle replacement to tie machine location
• Obtains information concerning order specifications, rolling sequences, piece counts, product length and bundling perimeters, etc
• Clean and repair roll stand and guide equipment
• Become proficient with measuring equipment and techniques and properly use these to assist in building, changing and maintaining stands, guide boxes and loopers and to maintain proper Rolling Mill settings that ensure a quality product

What You'll Need

• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
• Basic computer skills
• Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
• Ability to work overtime as required, including planned schedules and unplanned emergency situations
• Demonstrated dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
