Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited operates a Mill Laborer role at Delta Junction, AK. It is a temporary position reporting to the Mill Supervisor, performing heavy physical tasks including snow/ice removal and basic plant maintenance while assisting Mill Operators.

The job supports a 14-day on, 7-day off rotating schedule at a remote campsite with on-site camps, dining services, and facilities. Prior MSHA awareness and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Driver’s License required.
• Experience operating small equipment (scissor lifts, forklifts).
• Able to perform heavy physical labor, including shovelling up to 8 hours daily.
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• Awareness of MSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate light vehicles and plant (eg, skid steer, bobcat, forklift).
• Maintain clean conveyor areas.
• Clean out sumps.
• General cleaning around mill operations.
• Assist Mill Operators & Maintenance personnel as directed.

• Ensure all safety-related activities per policy and MSHA.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.

What’s the role?

The Mill Laborer is a temporary position that reports to the Mill Supervisor, and the primary role is to perform heavy physical tasks as directed such as snow/ice removal, building, grounds & processing plant maintenance and providing general assistance to Mill Operators within the Processing Operations Department. Te mporary roles often provide opportunities to transition into a full-time, permanent position within the company based on business needs and performance.

• Snow and ice removal
• Safely operatelight vehicles and plant (eg, skid steer, bobcat, forklift)
• Maintain clean conveyor areas
• Clean out sumps
• General cleaning around mill operations
• Assist Mill Operators & Maintenance personnel as directed
• Use hand tools safely
• Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA
• requirements including Hazard IDs, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.
• Other duties as required

Qualifications Required

• Current Driver’s License.

Desired Experience & Competencies

• Experience operating small equipment such as scissor lifts and forklifts.
• Capable of heavy physical labor, including shovelling for up to 8 hrs per day.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly, from floor to chest without injury.
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
• Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.

Working a 14 day on, 7 day off rotating schedule up to 12.0 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
