Job summary

Commercial Metals Company (CMC) is seeking an entry-level roll mill operator to learn operating Rolling Mill equipment, perform basic inspections, and participate in a safety-focused, team-based production environment in Birmingham, AL. You will contribute to quality and efficiency while following PPE rules and company procedures.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and the ability to adapt to rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime.

Qualifications

• Team player in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, dust and noise.
• Basic computer skills.
• Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Some overtime and rotating shifts including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate Rolling Mill equipment and become proficient with tools and techniques.
• Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following safety rules and wearing PPE.
• Be alert of unsafe conditions and report them immediately.
• Communicate effectively within a team environment.
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift.
• Perform daily housekeeping duties in the work area.

What You'll Do

• Learn to operate equipment and become proficient using Rolling Mill equipment, tools, and techniques

• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
• Basic computer skills
• Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
• Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Some overtime will be required
• Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
