Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a capable engineer to manage capital projects within a mill environment. The role covers from inception through implementation of projects ranging from $10,000 to $5,000,000, including feasibility studies and cost controls.

Candidates should have a BS in mechanical/electrical/civil or paper engineering with at least three years in pulp and paper or related industries, plus strong leadership, communication, and planning skills. Flexibility for shift work is required.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in mechanical (preferred), electrical, civil or paper engineering with a minimum of three years' experience in pulp and paper or related industry.
  • Working knowledge of process improvement, capital execution and project management methods.
  • Ability to form and lead teams or contribute to a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute capital projects in the range of $10,000 to $5,000,000 from inception to implementation.
  • Manage project cost controls, planning and scheduling, contractor management, start-up management and safety.
  • Interface with corporate engineering, planning, outside consultants, equipment manufacturers and material suppliers.
  • Ensure internal customer satisfaction through application of quality standards and practices.
  • Work with project sponsors to justify authorization and expenditure of capital funds.
