Job summary

Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP) in Houma, LA seeks veterans to start a career as Kia Certified Service Technicians. You will train while working full-time at a Kia Retailer, gaining hands-on experience across engine, electrical, and vehicle systems, with mentorship and structured learning paths.

Participants may qualify for a GI Bill Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) during the apprenticeship, and completion leads to Kia Service Technician certification.

Qualifications

• Honorable Discharge from military service.
• Valid driver's license from any state with a clean driving record.
• Experience in a technical/mechanical field is required.
• Must be willing to complete and pass drug screening and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair Kia vehicles across engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Complete repair orders and warranty requests per Kia and retailer policies.
• Test drive, analyze, diagnose, and repair components using Kia diagnostic strategies and tools.
• Perform services promptly and communicate with shop foreman and service advisor for customer satisfaction.

Kia Retailers are offering skilled and experienced military veterans the opportunity to begin an inspiring career as a Kia Certified Service Technician. To support this Kia Retailer initiative, Kia America, Inc. has established the Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP).

Job Description

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair Kia vehicles, including engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical components.
• Complete repair orders and warranty request orders in accordance with established Kia and Retailer policies and procedures
• Test drive vehicles, and analyze, diagnose, and repair components and systems using Kia diagnostic strategies, special equipment, and tools
• Perform services, diagnostics, and repairs promptly, and communicate with the shop foreman and service advisor to ensure an optimal customer experience.
