The State of Vermont Military Department is looking for a dedicated Military Range Support Specialist. This role is critical in supporting the Vermont National Guard by managing and operating live fire ranges and training areas while ensuring safety and efficiency. Candidates will need to meet specific training and certification requirements, contributing to the overall training needs of soldiers.
The State of Vermont Military Department is seeking personnel to support the Vermont National Guard (VTNG) in scheduling and operating live fire ranges and training areas across all state facilities. Responsibilities include fire desk operations, range operations, and automated target repair. This role directly supports soldiers' daily training needs, ensuring their safe movement within training areas and ranges. The position requires travel for training and ongoing education, with tasks directed by the district facilities manager and/or Military Range Operation Supervisor.

Work is performed at State and Federal National Guard facilities. The role involves working near hazardous materials, including ammunition, and exposure to loud noises. Candidates must be able to climb ladders and lift equipment up to fifty pounds. Work occurs in various weather conditions, and some outside normal hours, including travel and overnight stays, may be required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Military service or experience in logistics or facilities maintenance.
Candidates must obtain Range Operations Course Certification, Level II Range Safety Certification, and the Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) to complete probation successfully. These certifications and clearances are mandatory for employment.
