Air Force chaplains support the spiritual resilience of our Airmen by providing pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual leadership. They serve as religious ministry professionals who support faith and personal guidance, and also advise leadership on moral, ethical, and quality-of-life issues.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing and supporting spiritual centers on military installations worldwide
• Conducting worship services, liturgies, and rites
• Advising leadership on spiritual, religious, ethical, and morale issues
• Supervising chapel personnel, operations, and religious programs

Qualifications, Education, and Training:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with at least 120 semester hours
• Master of Divinity or equivalent theological degree with no less than 72 hours
• Two years of religious ministry leadership experience
• Denominational requirements include Christian Protestant, Muslim, Jewish, Orthodox Christian, Roman Catholic, or other faith groups
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Must receive an Ecclesiastical Endorsement from a DoD-recognized endorser
• Meet medical and physical fitness standards
• No convictions by courts-martial or civilian courts (except minor infractions)
• No disciplinary actions for unprofessional relationships, financial irresponsibility, domestic violence, or child abuse
• Commissioned as an officer before age 40 (age waivers may be available)
