Job summary

Magellan Federal seeks a Personal Financial Counselor to provide on-site financial counseling at military installations for service members and their families. You will educate, counsel and connect clients with resources, workshops and one-on-one sessions across the DoD lifecycle.

You will collaborate with installation leadership, deliver virtual options when required, and ensure compliance with DoD protocols, confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Associate degree with 4+ years experience may be considered.
• High school diploma with 6+ years experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen and fluent English.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
• Be able to obtain a favorable Tier 2 DoD investigation.
• Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for OCI.
• One of AFC, CFP, or ChFC certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and families.
• Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develop and make available informational financial materials.
• Coordinate, publicize and provide PFM classes/workshops across the military lifecycle.
• Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling and secure communications as needed.
• Manage duty to warn per DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision.
• Participate in in-services and contract activities.
• All other duties as assigned.
