Job Title: Military Funeral Honors Coordinator

Summary – This is a contingent Opportunity and would begin work upon the contract award

The Army National Guard (ARNG) Military Funeral Honors (MFH) program renders professional military funeral honors, in accordance with service tradition, to all eligible veterans when requested by an authorized family member. The MFH program has developed a comprehensive network within communities which quickly responds to the needs of deceased Service members and their Families.

The ARNG is a geographically dispersed force whose members do not have the benefit of installation-based support for MFH and caring for survivors of our fallen heroes. The need to provide MFH to geographically dispersed service members and families is ongoing and increases during periods of mobilization, active service, and state call-ups.

Zeiders Enterprises, Inc. is seeking qualified, trained and capable individuals to serve as Military Funeral Honors (MFH) Coordinator within the ARNG throughout the state. MFH Coordinators coordinate, within their assigned Area of Operation (AOR), the fulfillment of requests for the ARNG Honor Guard ceremonies for deceased veterans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate requests for ARNG Honor Guard support, verify eligibility, and assign appropriate honors ceremony providers.
  • Coordinates with various individuals and entities (family of service members, VSOs, funeral directors, state/military units, etc.) to conduct ARNG Honor Guard ceremonies.
  • Coordinates the issuance of rifles for use during performance of funeral honors IAW the MFH Handbook. This will include coordination with VSOs, checking availability with base Arms Room/Armory and/or the Funeral Honors Arms rooms, making appointments for pickup/return of items.
  • Attends, monitors, and evaluates at least 5% of all Honor Guard performances each quarter and provides a report and recommendations to the PM, COR-RA, and other stakeholders.
  • Records all MFH cases in the MFH database.
  • Maintains accurate records related to the performance of veterans organization honors teams into the MFH Database.
  • Maintains all training records for soldiers/retirees and VSOs IAW the MFH Handbook, and updates existing training records IAW official training sessions using the Military Funeral Honors.
  • Tracks and maintains accurate records of certifications of MFH course using the MFH database.
  • Updates and maintains clothing and equipment records, safety driving certificates, and number of funerals in the Military Funeral Honors database
  • Maintains the Plan of Instruction (POI) for the MFH course and National Honor Guard Soldier of the Year competition
  • Maintains equipment and training aids provided to them by the State for classroom instruction
  • Provides a Monthly Workload Report to the customer
  • Maintains schedule availability via telephone 24/7/365 to receive requests for assistance from constituents.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree and three (3) or more years of experience in related field.
  • Prior military service OR prior experience supporting the MFH-SOS program or other relevant military programs.
  • Must have knowledge of military lifestyle.
  • Broad based knowledge, experience, and skills in the areas of military funeral honors, survivor assistance services, military personnel, casualty assistance, and Family programs as well as an understanding of the ARNG.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of internet interaction, use of government’s databases, reports preparation, interpret regulations, and analyze reports.
  • Proficiency with computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power-Point.
  • Experience in recordkeeping and database management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Flexibility to support extended work hours as required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check to include pre-employment drug testing.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all required training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working on MFH-SOS or similar contract.
  • Knowledge, experience, and skills in military personnel, wellbeing, family, and deployment cycle support.
  • Working knowledge of the structure and operation of the ARNG.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to successfully complete a government background investigation to include FBI fingerprints.
  • This position requires access to U.S. Government facilities and systems. U.S. Citizenship, a valid driver's license, transportation, and auto insurance are required.

Physical Demands: This individual works in office areas. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. They use a personal computer, telephones, copiers, printers, and other office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Employee must be physically and mentally able to perform all contractual duties, which may include transporting, lifting and setting up displays, and standing and walking during activities..
