The Military DoD SkillBridge program allows Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. It connects Service members with industry partners for real-world job experience under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Participants can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus on training, with approval from their unit commander.

GE Healthcare, as a SkillBridge partner, offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields, with opportunities to evaluate suitability for the work. Participants continue to receive military pay and benefits during the program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Under supervision, evaluate and troubleshoot imaging/PCS equipment in hospital environments, perform repairs, planned maintenance, safety and environmental inspections, and maintain customer relations.
  • Communicate with customers to ensure resolution and follow-up, supporting business goals.
  • Assist experienced technicians on repairs and work as part of a local team.
  • Document repair actions, manage parts inventory, and oversee vendor service delivery.
  • Care for spares, tools, and test equipment, ensuring calibration and safety standards are met.
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Active Military Personnel
  • Ability to develop good customer relationships
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs, perform various physical activities, and have good vision and dexterity
  • Cannot relocate more than 30 miles without approval
  • Complete all required training and report quality concerns

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with schematic diagrams, troubleshooting, and maintenance of biomedical or diagnostic equipment
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Experience working with internal teams and customers in a solution-based service environment
