Qualifications

• MSW or equivalent (MSSW, MSSA) from CSWE-accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted clinical license to independently practice social work in any U.S. state.
• Credentialing in good standing at a local MTF.
• Two years in past five years in independent clinical social work in a mental health setting; government experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of ethics and brief behavioral interventions; may require clinical privileges.

Responsibilities

• Function within an operational unit as a Behavioral Health Care Provider.
• Attend and participate in meetings during duty hours and professional staff conferences.
• Conduct applied research and clinical investigations in clinical/behavioral health/organizational social work.
• Apply social work procedures: interviewing, behavioral assessment, and evidenced-based therapies.
• Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders and school districts as required.
• Maintain accurate notes in paper and electronic medical records; produce evaluation/treatment reports.
• Participate in military-specific training and activities (security clearances, DoD guidelines, deployment screenings).
• Supervise unlicensed providers or trainees (possible).
• Perform case management functions; contact referred patients to assess adherence; use symptom inventories; educate patients; maintain patient registry; staff difficult cases.
