What you'll be doing:

The Milieu Therapist is a licensed therapist responsible for facilitating skills and psychotherapy groups based on a core curriculum, providing meal monitoring and support, and offering milieu support, de-escalation, and behavior coaching to patients across inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide meal monitoring and support.
  • Document groups, meals, patient check-ins, and observations.
  • Support the milieu environment, including:
    • De-escalation and crisis management
    • Bathroom monitoring and support for eating disorder patients
    • Monitoring outside breaks
  • Conduct self-harm and suicide assessments.
  • Support morning routines in inpatient/residential programs.
  • Collect and report weights, vitals, and urine samples in applicable settings.
  • Implement individual behavior management plans for some patients and serve as the clinical lead in standalone programs during evenings and weekends, including leading psychotherapy groups.
  • Provide coverage for primary therapists (individual, family, group therapies, and patient assessments) with support from the Clinical Manager or Clinical Director.
Must Haves:
  • Intern or associate license from the appropriate state licensing board.
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic principles and techniques.
  • Ability to manage group dynamics effectively.
  • Proficient in maintaining timely, detailed, and accurate records.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Bonus Qualities:
  • At least 1 year facilitating group-based treatment interventions (preferred).
  • At least 1 year providing crisis management support and interventions (preferred).
  • At least 1 year performing safety assessments and implementing safety management plans for patients at higher levels of care (preferred).

Starting compensation for the Milieu Therapist role ranges from $27.50 to $36.50 per hour.
