What You'll Be Doing

The Milieu Therapist is a licensed therapist responsible for facilitating skills and psychotherapy groups based on core curriculum, providing meal monitoring and support, and offering milieu support, de-escalation, and behavior coaching to patients across inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide meal monitoring and support.
• Document groups, meals, patient check-ins, and observations.
• Support milieu activities, including de-escalation and crisis management.
• Monitor bathroom use and support for eating disorder patients.
• Monitor outside breaks.
• Conduct self-harm and suicide assessments.
• Support morning routines in inpatient/residential programs.
• Collect and report weights, vitals, and urine tests in some settings.
• Implement individual behavior management plans and serve as clinical lead in standalone programs during evenings and weekends; lead some psychotherapy groups.
• Provide coverage for primary therapists for individual, family, and group therapies, as well as patient assessments, with support from Clinical Manager or Director.

Must Haves

• Intern or associate license from the appropriate state licensing board.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutic principles and techniques.
• Ability to manage group dynamics effectively and maintain detailed, accurate records.
• Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus Qualities

• At least 1 year facilitating group-based treatment interventions.
• At least 1 year providing crisis management support and interventions.
• At least 1 year performing safety assessments and implementing safety management plans for higher-level care patients.
