Universal Health Services' Metropolitan Behavioral Health unit in Dearborn, MI seeks a Milieu Specialist for night shift per diem to manage therapeutic milieu, train MHTs, and monitor units. This role supports a 7p–7:30a schedule with rotating weekends and holidays.

The position requires an Associates or Bachelor's in psychology, 5 years in a mental health hospital, Lead MHT experience, and current BLS/CPR; NVCI certification or planned certification within 5 months is required.

Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor's degree in psychology or related field required.
• Five years of professional mental health hospital experience required.
• Lead MHT experience is required.
• NVCI instructor certification or obtained within 5 months of role start date required.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to mentor staff.
• BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic milieu management and program content.
• Train and mentor MHTs on unit operations and safety.
• Monitor hospital unit activities and ensure staff competency.
• Support rotating night shift coverage and patient care needs.

Milieu Specialist - Night Shift Per Diem

Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility)

A growing, 144-bed behavioral health facility – Metropolitan Behavioral Health Hospital provides a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults, and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues are offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility provides a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family, and individual therapy.

Position Summary

The Milieu Specialist provides therapeutic milieu management, training of MHTs, and monitoring of the hospital units. Milieu management includes program content and philosophy, patient management training, environmental management, and staff competency. We adding to our staff with per diem Milieu Specialist.

Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in psychology or similar social sciences from an accredited college or university is required.
• Five years of professional experience in a mental health hospital setting required.
• Experience as a Lead MHT.
• Current certification as a Non-Violent Crisis Intervention instructor required or obtained within 5 months of being in the role.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to relate feedback and mentor existing & newly hired employees required.
• Current certification in BLS/CPR required.

Work Hours

This is per diem position for 7p-7:30a shifts. Must be available to work rotating weekends and holidays.
