Job summary

The Farley Center in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Milieu Coordinator - BHA / BHA Evening Supervisor FT to lead and supervise milieu staff during the 3p-11:30p shift. The role focuses on ensuring a safe, supportive and structured environment for clients under the direction of the charge nurse or supervisor.

Responsibilities include coordinating care, de-escalation, admissions/discharges, staff training, and accurate documentation, with benefits including tuition assistance and daily pay options.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with four or more years’ experience in a behavioral health environment.
• Associates degree in a human service field with two or more years’ experience in a behavioral health environment.
• Two or more years’ experience with the population of the facility preferred.
• Understands common psychiatric disorders and/or dual diagnosis and various treatment modalities of the population served.
• Exceptional knowledge of and skills in verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention.

• Monitors shift change activities to assign staff, review staffing for the units and adjusts as necessary.
• Facilitates and monitors client care and programming.
• Assists the Charge Nurse with assignments for BHAs, group coverage, charting, breaks, environmental and safety rounds and codes.
• Ensures the wellbeing of clients and provide a positive, supportive and structured environment, under direction of charge nurse or supervisor.
• Applies de-escalation techniques to help manage client’s emotions, behavior and participation in treatment.
• Facilitates the individual admission and discharge processes, as well as client transfers.
• Facilitates person-centered planning process with individuals to assess and develop plans based on their needs.
• Ensures proper, accurate and timely documentation of client information and progress.
• Trains and mentors direct care staff during the shift as necessary, or as assigned by supervisor.
• Audits individual records to ensure regulatory requirements are met. Reports issues to supervisor as necessary regarding compliance.
• Responds to individual, family and guardians regarding concerns.
• Reports pertinent information to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Assists with clients and covers unit as necessary to maintain ratio.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent with four or more years’ experience in a behavioral health environment required; OR Associates Degree in a human service field with two or more years’ experience in a behavioral health environment required.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

WORK LOCATION:

This position is onsite and is not a remote position.

This position is an Individual Contributor.
