Job description

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwell Health seeks a dynamic Board Certified/Board Eligible Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon to join our Long Island team in Port Jefferson and Bay Shore, NY as we expand our Women’s Health services across the Health System.

Mather Hospital, located in Port Jefferson, New York, is an accredited 248-bed, non-profit community teaching hospital. Founded in 1929 as the first general hospital in the Town of Brookhaven, Mather Hospital has consistently fulfilled its original patient care mission of providing a wide spectrum of healthcare services of the highest quality to the residents of Suffolk County and has repeatedly ranked in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Hospitals list as among the best in both New York State and the New York metro area.

South Shore University Hospital, located 30 miles east of NYC in Bay Shore, New York, is a 305-bed Hospital that is rapidly growing with plans to potentially expand to over 400 beds. Comprising 2,500 deliveries per year, South Shore University Hospital has become a regional destination for high-quality care on Suffolk County’s south shore. Due to open soon, Northwell Health’s Women and Infant’s Center at South Shore University Hospital will contain 29 private rooms and a 16-bay neonatal intensive care unit. South Shore University Hospital is an important academic teaching center for the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, providing residencies and fellowships in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Northwell Health is New York State’s largest health care provider and private employer, with 21 hospitals, 830 outpatient facilities and more than 16,600 affiliated physicians. We care for over two million people annually in the New York metro area and beyond, thanks to philanthropic support from our communities. Our 76,000 employees—18,900 nurses and 4,800 employed doctors, including members of Northwell Health Physician Partners—are working to change health care for the better. We’re making breakthroughs in medicine at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. We're training the next generation of medical professionals at the visionary Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. Experience a career well cared for and make a difference in the lives of our community.

Northwell Health is committed to training, supporting and nurturing physicians from all backgrounds. We fully understand that diversity is integral for our institutional excellence and a means to attaining health equity. As a result, our diversity and inclusion efforts are a part of everything we do from education to clinical care, to research, to physician well-being.

Diversity and inclusion permeate our educational and clinical initiatives. We have set a goal to make sure every one of our physicians receive training on how to deliver high quality, culturally competent care. Our recent educational areas of focus have been on social determinants of health, community engagement and developing a medical-legal partnership for our physicians-in-training. One of our many strengths is our diverse patient population and our expectation is that our diverse patient populations receive equitable care, irrespective of who they are. As a result, we continually recruit a diverse physician workforce to meet the needs of our diverse patients.
