Job Description
A migrant tutor provides instructional support to students ages 3-21 in their homes or schools, focusing on literacy, GED, and life skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work under the direction of the Cooperative Director, Migrant State Director, and Migrant Program Specialist.
- Provide individual or group tutoring for students aged 3-21.
- Collaborate with counselors, secretaries, and families to serve students.
- Obtain and maintain current knowledge of the Migrant Education Program requirements.
- Provide out-of-school youth instructional support in Reading, GED, and Life Skills.
- Follow NWA Education Service Cooperative policies, state, and federal guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Complete all required forms, reports, and surveys accurately and timely.
- Utilize technology to promote efficient program operations.
Work schedule: Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Position type: Full‑time. Contract: 190 days. Annual salary: $29,956.
Job Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Associate’s degree in education or equivalent (preferred).
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to travel extensively across an 8‑county area.
- Willingness to work in a variety of locations including student homes.
- Requires building collaborative relationships with school personnel and families.
Travel and Benefits
- Required travel: August 31‑September 5; State meeting at Harding University in Searcy, AR.
- Mileage paid: $0.52 per mile; hotel, food allowance, and mileage reimbursed after submission.
