Job summary

Okie Staffing seeks a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join our client's 2nd shift maintenance team, working with diesel mechanics to repair, reinforce, and fabricate components for a fleet of garbage and refuse trucks.

This role is ideal for hands-on workers who take pride in quality craftsmanship and can operate in a fast-paced shop environment. This is a temp-to-hire position with benefits available upon full hire.

Qualifications

  • Previous welding and fabrication experience required.
  • Experience with MIG welding preferred.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Ability to use grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and fabrication tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG, Stick, and other welding processes as required.
  • Repair damaged truck bodies, containers, frames, and structural components.
  • Fabricate brackets, supports, panels, and replacement parts.
  • Cut, grind, fit, and assemble metal components.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measurements.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure quality and durability.
  • Work alongside diesel mechanics on vehicle repairs and modifications.
  • Operate welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions throughout the shift
  • Ability to work in a shop environment that may be hot, dirty, and physically demanding
  • Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment
