Job summary

Wabtec is seeking an experienced welder at the McPherson, KS site to produce highly engineered, custom-built components following drawings, work orders, and quality procedures. You will perform welding, fabrication, and assembly using mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic methods and operate overhead cranes; report to the Production Supervisor and Plant Manager.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 3–5+ years in a welding environment, MIG experience, and the ability to read blueprints;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified welder preferred.
• 3-5+ years in custom build shop preferred.
• 2 years MIG experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow standard work, BOMs, blueprints, routings, specifications to assemble parts and equipment accurately.
• Obtain necessary tools and equipment.
• Handle material and equipment with cranes and hitching as required.
• Layout, cut and fit parts; weld in place.
• Fabricate new metal components per product data sheets and safety standards.
• Maintain quality and safety in all tasks.
• Coordinate workflow with team and third-party agents.
• Work independently or in small teams to complete projects.
