SUMMARY

This position welds fabricated components, per custom or stock specifications, for sale to customers in conjunction with customer quality requirements and United Alloy manufacturing philosophies. Monitoring welding performance and efficiency are essential.

HOURS: Monday - Thursday 3:00pm-1:00am. Overtime worked on Friday based on business need.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Set up and weld in 1-2 weld work center(s).
  • Weld products using fixturing (if applicable) with minimal supervision.
  • Utilize hand tools, fixtures, and clamps for small welding applications.
  • Interpret basic elements of a blueprint, including welding symbols.
  • Identify types of joints and welds.
  • Meet UA weld aesthetic standards per customer specifications.
  • Set up and maintain welding machines including changing wire and monitoring gases.
  • Successfully perform a tank leak test.
  • Monitor and maintain welding consumable and supply stock.
  • Understand cross-check concepts and inspect products according to Inspection Control Plan.
  • Accurately tag material and product according to WI-0002 Product Identification.
  • Understand non-conforming process according to SOP-003.
  • Follow all safety policies and standards.
  • Maintain work center efficiency of 95%.
  • Ensure a high degree of quality, minimizing excessive scrap.
  • Utilize basic math principles including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Perform all required PM on equipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Weld 1st articles and PPAPs successfully.
  • Train/mentor other welders.
  • Make minor repairs to equipment and support equipment.
  • Recommend and help implement process improvements.
  • Inspect own work for quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Exposure to metal fabrication concepts and processes.
  • Pass a UAI AWS D1.1 welding test.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes, tape measures, calipers, basic hand tools, and air tools.
  • Ability to determine material types and gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds with an assist.
