You will be responsible for preparing metal for weld operations per customer specifications, drawings, and instructions from engineering. Primary duty is performing welding operations on various customer products using manual and/or robotic welding equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Using provided setup sheet, verify correct filler metal is installed, and change filler as needed.
  • Adjust weld gas flow per WPS instructions.
  • Set up manual weld machine or download program per setup sheet instructions.
  • Verify proper tooling is installed in the robot or staged in manual area.
  • Review weld requirements from weld prints (size, spacing, location, ECT).
  • Load and locate parts into tooling per print and work instructions.
  • Weld parts per customer provided prints.
  • Remove weld spatter and scale from finished parts.
  • Remove material by grinding to meet customer specifications, if required.
  • Perform quality checks per setup sheet.
  • Maintain welding equipment and keep the work area orderly and clean.
  • Set up and operate robotic weld cells.
  • Rework parts up to customer specifications as needed.
  • All other duties assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED; or one year of welding experience, preferably in a production environment, and preferably a V-Tech trade degree in a related field.

Proficient in MIG welding techniques.

Knowledge of wire, filler materials, gases, fixturing, and weld setup parameters (amps, volts, etc.).

Successful completion of an internal welding test and ability to achieve customer certification, if applicable.

Ability to read blueprints, especially weld requirement symbols.

What Does It Take to Be a Fit for This Role?
  • Minimum one year of related experience preferred.
  • Experience as a welder and operating robotic welders.
  • Ability to read blueprints and work orders, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to pass hands-on and written tests.
  • Ability to follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with frequent bending, twisting, and lifting.
