Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive inpatient clinical care to OB/GYN patients consistent with existing practice protocols, organizational standards, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Providing outpatient gynecologic and obstetric care in a collaborative practice with OB/GYN physicians.
- Providing inpatient obstetrical coverage that involves initial evaluation of parturient and continued care and delivery of normally laboring patients under the guidance of the labor floor staff physician.
- This position requires providing service to adolescent and adult populations, demonstrating an understanding of their developmental and functional ages.
Assessment & Management:
- Performs complete history and physicals, documenting in the medical record.
- Orders and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques and diagnostic procedures.
- Serves as the first responder for nursing and house staff in patient status changes, orders, and procedural interventions.
- Assesses risks related to acute and chronic patient care, including medication side effects, immobility, nutrition, fluid and electrolyte balance, immunocompetence, invasive interventions, and diagnostics.
Diagnosis:
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to diagnose acute and chronic conditions.
- Manages diagnostic tests, interprets results, and supervises procedures.
- Develops differential diagnoses prioritized by clinical judgment.
- Diagnoses complications and orders appropriate interventions.
Plan of Care:
- Identifies expected outcomes and formulates a plan of care for complex health needs.
- Utilizes evidence-based guidelines and protocols for individualized, dynamic care plans.
- Implements and adjusts plans of care as needed.
- Prescribes diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
- Performs advanced procedures as per privileges and competency validation.
Documentation:
- Documents key patient progress components, including daily notes, transfer and discharge summaries, and clinic notes, in accordance with standards.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Maintains communication with the interdisciplinary team.
- Facilitates communication with patients and families to ensure continuity of care.
Professional Practice:
- Demonstrates professional behaviors, including mentoring and education of students.
- Engages in research and evidence-based practice analysis.
- Participates in grand rounds and specialty meetings.
- Maintains CEUs and professional memberships.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree.
- National Board Certification as a Primary/Family Care Nurse Practitioner.
