Major Responsibilities
Administration
  • Participates in the bid review process; analyses quotations and proposals
  • Reviews submittals for accuracy and conformity to LGH specifications
  • Insures that projects are built according to specifications
  • Administers construction projects and maintains project documentation
  • Assists in the preparation of initial budget estimates for approval
  • Reviews bids and assists in the selection of appropriate contractors
  • Prepares change orders for approval
  • Reviews and processes pay requests
  • Maintains and updates project budget tracker sheets
Responsible for coordination and supervision of all aspects of construction process
  • Coordinates contractor meetings on a regular or as needed basis
  • Inspects progress of contractor work as related to project schedule
  • Fields questions and interfaces between contractors, engineers, contract architects, staff architects, and consultants
  • Coordinates construction activities (such as shutdowns) that directly affect hospital operations
  • Updates appropriate hospital personnel regarding construction activities
Responsible for project planning
  • Attends planning meetings with user groups, ensuring that the design meets their needs and works within budget
  • Interfaces with contract architects and staff architects, designers, engineers, and consultants to ensure that construction documents conform to design intent and to established Advocate Health Care, BroMenn, Eureka, and Eastside Medical Office Building standards
Responsible for stewardship of Construction Documents and preparation of Safety Documents on Advocate's behalf
  • Prepares and updates life-safety ILSM project documents, coordinates and reviews fire evacuation, IDPH comments, and accrediting organization comments
  • Archives all final construction and permit documents and ensures they are accessible to Advocate, in compliance with law and internal procedures
Education/Experience Required
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture (or related major)
  • 2 or more years of project management experience, with the majority in hospital or health care settings
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Basic skills in word processing, scheduling, and accounting spreadsheets
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Self-ambulation to visit job sites on campus
  • Ability to walk on stairs, ladders, climb scaffolding, and navigate dusty environments
  • Travel within Bloomington/Normal/Eureka areas, requiring access to a vehicle
