Job summary

Matador Resources Company in Dallas, TX is seeking an Entry-level Gas Gathering Engineer to support existing gas gathering systems and capital projects. You will evaluate current system limits, design new solutions, and implement improvements across pipelines and compressor stations.

The role requires a 4-year degree in engineering, up to 25% travel, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Must have recent gas gathering and compression project management experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience; 5+ years preferred.
  • Experience with gas processing; compression, dehydration, and sour gas treating preferred.
  • Proficiency with BR&E ProMax and DNV Synergi is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, operate, and maintain gas gathering pipelines, compressor stations, and treating facilities.
  • Participate in scope definition, budgeting, AFE preparation, project management, vendor selection, and coordination with field teams.
  • Monitor operations to optimize gas compression, utility use, chemical consumption, and maintenance to improve revenue and reduce costs.
  • Assist in developing annual operating budgets and tracking expenses; review vendor invoices.
  • Maintain 'as built' drawings, safety data, data books, and operating manuals.
  • Plan maintenance budgets and schedules.
  • Ensure environmental permit compliance with engineering and environmental teams.

Job Description

Provide operational and engineering support for existing gas gathering systems, including pipelines and compressor stations. Engineer, design, and implement small to large capital projects on gas gathering system by evaluating current system limits and future requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the design, operations, and maintenance of gas gathering pipelines, gas compressor stations, and gas treating facilities.
  • Gas system improvement/expansion projects – participate on a team responsible for scope definition, engineering design, budgeting, AFE preparation, project management, vendor selection and management, and coordination with field superintendent and construction contractors.
  • Monitor day-to-day operations and work with operations staff to optimize gas compression, utility consumption, chemical consumption, and maintenance activities to increase gas gathering system revenue and reduce operating expenses.
  • Work with management team to develop annual gas gathering system operating budget and track operating expenses. Participate in monthly operating expenditure accrual meetings. Review and approve vendor invoices. Maintain an in depth understanding of all gas gathering system operating expenses and forecast future expenditures.
  • Engineering documentation – work with engineering team and contractors to maintain "as built" facility drawings, process safety information, data books, and operating manuals.
  • Maintenance planning – work with operations and maintenance staff on maintenance planning, budgeting, and tracking. Development of maintenance budget and schedule.
  • Environmental Compliance – work with engineering and environmental team to ensure environmental permit compliance. Data gathering and analysis.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering required.
  • Must have recent gas gathering and compression project management experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience, 5 years’ experience preferred.
  • Preferred process experience to include: compression & dehydration, refrigeration & turbo-expander liquids recovery, sour gas treating.
  • Experience with BR&E ProMax process simulation software and DNV Synergi hydraulic modeling software preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience executing multiple projects, running concurrently.
  • Ability to handle stress and work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Self-starter and proactive with strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, set realistic goals, and complete commitments on schedule.
