Job summary

Chord Energy seeks a Midstream Facilities Engineer to develop, plan, engineer and operate midstream and upstream assets in the Houston area. The role requires an operations background and knowledge of facility design, construction, and startup, with travel to field sites and a hybrid option on Mondays and Fridays.

Responsibilities include hydraulic modeling, cost estimating, technical reviews, and collaboration with multiple internal teams and external contractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
  • 3 years of Oil and Gas experience, preferably in Upstream and/or Midstream Facilities.
  • Capable of working independently on small to mid-sized projects and technical assignments.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and PipeSIM.
  • Strong economic and cost-estimation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project planning, execution and review through all phases from approval to commissioning.
  • Develop hydraulic models and process simulations to support operations and development.
  • Prepare cost estimates from scoping to AFE level and perform project lookbacks.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day issues with surface equipment at facilities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, Land, Legal, Regulatory and accounting teams and contractors.
  • Lead or participate in PHAs, risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Develop Facility SOPs and design best practices.
  • Maintain project KPIs and manage contractor engineering services.

Job description

The Midstream Facilities Engineer will participate in the development, planning, engineering and operations of Chord Energy midstream and upstream facility assets. Assets include but are not limited to saltwater disposals (SWDs), gathering systems (oil, produced water, gas, & fresh water), gas plants, oil conditioners and central delivery points. The position requires an operations background and understanding of the design, construction, and operation of facility assets. This position located in downtown Houston, TX and requires travel to operations areas. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.Essential Job FunctionsManage project planning, execution and review through all phases from approval, engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup to support development, optimization, and compliance.Manage technical scope of projects to ensure Chord Energy complies with government and local regulations as well as industry standardsDevelop hydraulic models and process simulations in support of operations, project engineering, and commercial developmentPrepare cost estimates for a variety of projects from scoping to AFE level and perform wholistic project lookbacks after completionAid in troubleshooting of day-to-day operational issues with any surface equipment at the tank battery or Chord-owned midstream facilityCollaborate with a variety of entities including Marketing, Operations, Land, Legal, Regulatory and Accounting along with external entities such as contractors, equipment providers, government agencies, regulatory bodies, landowners, and other producersGenerate MOC documentation and act as the engineering reviewer/approver for technical MOCsLead and/or participate in PHA’s, Risk Assessments and Incident InvestigationsDevelop and/or advise on Facility SOP’s and design best practicesContribute to safety leadership on the Facilities TeamSupport and maintain Project KPIs and reportingManage contract engineering servicesThis job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of the position.
