Job description

SWA/Balsley is actively seeking a highly skilled Mid-Level Landscape Architect with at least 5 years of landscape architecture experience. Experience managing NYC Parks Capital Division projects, either as an in-house designer or with an outside consultant, is a plus.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. 5+ years of professional experience at a landscape architecture firm, with work in both the private and public realms.
  2. Accredited degree in Landscape Architecture.
  3. Licensed in the State of New York or ability to obtain license within 1 year.
  4. Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  5. Strong portfolio demonstrating project management of full services.
  6. Strong attention to detail and organization.
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Effective time management skills.
  9. Positive attitude and sense of accountability.
  10. Proficiency in:
    • AutoCAD
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, esp.)
    • 3D modeling (Lumion, Rhino, and Sketchup, esp.)
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, esp.)
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience managing NYC Parks Capital Division projects, either as an in-house designer or with an outside consultant.
  2. Experience working for or with other NYC public agencies, particularly EDC and DDC.
  3. Experience leading a variety of public and private projects at a range of scales.
  4. Strong knowledge of construction documentation, plant materials, and construction.
  5. Experience or interest in business development and marketing.
  6. Prior prime leadership experience with large teams.
  7. Proficiency in:
    • Revit 3D modeling
    • Hand sketching
