SimVentions, Inc. in Dahlgren, VA is seeking a Junior Software Developer to provide full-time, on-site middleware development for a Navy program. The ideal candidate will have experience with Python and C++ and will focus on integrating a Python user interface with a C++ backend.

This is an early-career role offering hands-on experience supporting mission-critical software development. An Active Secret Clearance is required for this position.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Software Development experience in a professional environment.
• Experience developing software using Python and C++.
• Familiarity with Bash scripting and Linux environments.
• Understanding of APIs, middleware development, and software integration.
• Experience working with SQL queries and relational databases, preferably MySQL or MariaDB.
• Ability to troubleshoot software issues and support testing and debugging.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a structured software development environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain middleware connecting Python‑based GUI applications with C++ backend systems.
• Write, troubleshoot, and maintain code using Python, C++, Bash, and related scripting tools.
• Design and implement APIs and other solutions to support communication between systems.
• Retrieve, manage, and validate data using MySQL/MariaDB databases and SQL queries.
• Collaborate with frontend and backend developers to ensure smooth system integration.
• Support software testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance improvements.
• Assist with Linux‑based software builds, deployments, and configuration.
• Maintain technical documentation and participate in code reviews and team development activities.
• Follow established coding standards, security requirements, and development practices.

Compensation

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $79,000 - $110,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
