Job summary

New Hope-Solebury Middle School in New Hope, PA is seeking an EDR Assistant MS Winter Track & Field Coach to support the Head Coach in administering the winter program. The role focuses on student-athlete development, sportsmanship, and academic-aligned participation during the winter season.

Responsibilities include planning, practicing, meets, safety, and communication with families, staff, and administration while upholding district policies and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Prior coaching and/or participation experience in track and field (indoor or outdoor) or related athletic programs preferred.
• Knowledge of basic track and field rules, indoor event techniques, and safety practices.
• Ability to work effectively with middle school–aged student-athletes in an educational environment.
• Completion of required District, league, and state-mandated certifications and clearances.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and supervising the middle school winter track and field program in accordance with District policies and applicable league regulations.
• Support the instruction and supervision of student-athletes during indoor practices, outdoor cold-weather sessions, meets, and related team activities.
• Conduct and assist with practices that emphasize fundamental skill development, indoor conditioning, teamwork, and safe participation in winter training environments.
• Instruct student-athletes in track and field fundamentals, including indoor running events, relays, and field events as assigned.
• Help evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to support individual improvement and team development.
• Promote and model appropriate conduct, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and the school community.
• Support the academic success, well-being, and positive development of student-athletes in alignment with District expectations.
• Assist with meet preparation and management—including indoor venue setup, warm-ups, event organization, athlete supervision, and equipment transport/breakdown.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, parents/guardians, administrators, and athletic department staff regarding winter schedule changes, weather adjustments, and event details.
• Ensure compliance with District policies, league rules, and safety protocols, including supervision, cold-weather safety, eligibility, and reporting requirements.
• Uphold and enforce District codes of conduct, team rules, and expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
