Job summary

Vallivue High School seeks an Athletic Director to motivate and develop student athletes, promote fair play, and provide leadership for athletic programs. The role emphasizes building character, teamwork, and responsibility within a high school setting.

The director will supervise tryouts, practice plans, transportation, safety, and compliance with district and state policies, while fostering student participation and a positive environment.

Responsibilities

• Attend all tryouts, practice meetings, and in-school events; supervise students during field trips and other out-of-school functions
• Organize practice schedules and game rosters
• Assign positions to players, and develop strategies and styles of play
• Organize, maintain, & inventory facilities, equipment, & uniforms
• Attend out-of-school meetings, supervise fundraisers, and help students prepare for competitions
• Arrange and participate in off-season workouts
• Coach individual participants of varying abilities in the skills necessary
• Track student performance throughout the season and develop stat sheets on players
• Arrange with the athletics and activities director for transportation, scheduling, hiring officials, or other arrangements for competitions
• Ensure the safety of the students and maintain responsibility for equipment and facilities and ensure proper use of safety equipment
• Comply with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy pertaining to medical procedures and student athletes, including concussion policy
• Ensure students are eligible to participate and have necessary physical examinations
• Actively promote the athletic program, seek student participation, and select team members
• Model positive behavior, maintain a supportive environment, and remain professional under pressure
• Maintain high standards of conduct for student athletes, including respect and fair play
• Abide by the Idaho High School Activities Association Handbook
