Lexington Public Schools seeks a 1.0 FTE Middle School Special Education Teacher (TLP) to provide direct instruction aligned with IEPs and executive functioning goals in a 184-day work year. Responsibilities include collaborating with staff, supporting students with social-emotional/behavioral needs, and contributing to IEP development.

The role requires (or prefers) a Master's in Special Education and DESE certification in moderate disabilities, with consideration for severe disabilities.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Special Education preferred.
  • DESE certification in moderate disabilities required at the appropriate grade level.
  • Experience with students with social emotional/behavioral disabilities and behavior plans.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; proficient with technology.
  • Ability to manage student data and contribute to IEP development.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers direct instruction aligned with IEPs and executive functioning goals.
  • Identifies student needs and collaborates with staff to support social-emotional and behavioral needs.
  • Collaborates with Therapeutic Learning Program team to monitor progress and develop behavioral approaches.
  • Supports general educators to include students in least restrictive settings.
  • Maintains data on IEP objectives and prepares progress reports.
  • Communicates with parents/guardians about student progress and goals.
  • Completes academic testing for initial or reevaluation assessments.
