Job summary

Wethersfield Public Schools seek a Long Term Substitute School Social Worker at Silas Deane Middle School to support students January–June 2027. The role requires CT School Social Worker Certification (071) and a Master’s in Social Work, with experience with middle/high school students preferred.

You will provide direct therapy, crisis management, case management, and collaborate with staff to develop IEP goals and SEL strategies, while advocating for student services and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• CT School Social Worker Certification (071) or eligible.
• Master's Degree in Social Work.
• Experience with middle/high school students preferred.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct therapeutic services (individual, family or group) addressing specific issues.
• Oversees the Wellness Center.
• Provide case management including referrals to community resources and collaboration with other professionals.
• Crisis management including safety assessment and follow-up for students experiencing suicidal/homicidal ideation.
• Attend Planning and Placement Team meetings.
• Develop IEP goals and SEL objectives.
• Conduct psychosocial and functional behavioral assessments.
• Serve on student support teams and special education committees.
• Maintain liaison with community agencies and assist referrals.
• Advocate for student services and students' best interests.
• Perform additional related work as required.
