Position Details
- Location: 6802 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77025
- Category: Full-time hourly contract basis
- Pay Rate: Depending on education & experience
- Reports to: School Principal
- Work Year: 2025-2026
- School days: August - May, with some additional training days
- Days Needed: M, T, W, Th, F (any or all)
- Hours per week: 40
- Job hours: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM (additional hours for meetings, etc.)
Qualifications
- Commitment to Catholic education philosophy and mission
- Minimum of a four-year B.A./B.S. Degree
- Commitment to student growth and success
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team
- Proficiency in technology
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- State Teacher Certification for the relevant grade level
- Three years teaching experience; middle school history preferred
- Catechist certification
- Safe Haven training
Essential Functions
- Develop and administer curriculum aligned with school goals
- Create a safe, engaging classroom environment
- Plan lessons and instructional materials effectively
- Assess student learning and adapt methods accordingly
- Teach responsible digital citizenship and other relevant subjects
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate with parents
- Manage student behavior to ensure a productive learning environment
- Collaborate with staff and participate in meetings
- Administer standardized tests as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and pedagogy
- Understanding of curriculum and data systems
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to organize and coordinate tasks
- Ability to establish cooperative relationships
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Use hands for teaching tools
- Reach, climb, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs
