Position Purpose

Under the supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting progress, and creating a safe learning environment. Provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding progress, expectations, and goals.

Essential Performance Responsibilities
  1. Develop and administer middle school curriculum aligned with district goals.
  2. Create a safe, conducive classroom environment for instruction and student learning.
  3. Plan lessons and instructional materials to optimize learning time.
  4. Assess student learning regularly and adapt teaching methods accordingly, including for students with special needs.
  5. Teach principles of responsible citizenship and other subjects as per laws and regulations.
  6. Engage in ongoing professional development through seminars, workshops, and research.
  7. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and achievement.
  8. Encourage parental involvement and maintain effective communication.
  9. Manage student behavior in accordance with school standards and policies.
  10. Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate and improve curriculum and participate in meetings.
  11. Manage instructional supplies and maintain inventory records.
  12. Supervise students during activities outside the classroom, including transportation.
  13. Administer standardized tests as per district protocols.
Additional Duties

Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal and administrators.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, pedagogy, and differentiated instruction.
  • Understanding of middle school curriculum and concepts across subjects.
  • Proficiency with data systems and analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws regarding education and students.
  • Computer literacy and ability to use relevant software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate own performance and pursue professional growth.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Physical and Mental Demands

Work in standard school environments, with consideration of physical, sensory, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications Profile
  • North Carolina Certification as a Middle School Teacher.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in education or relevant discipline.
Experience

Prior successful teaching experience at the middle school level preferred.
