Job summary

Achievement Prep in Southeast Washington, DC seeks a Middle School Lead Teacher to drive closing the achievement gap by specializing in Social Studies for our middle school scholars. You will report to the Instructional Coach and lead daily instruction across multiple groups with a research-based curriculum and data-informed goals.

You will personalize instruction for scholars with IEPs, collaborate with SPED teachers, engage families, and participate in ongoing professional development to

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Teaching license or Praxis scores (if not an education major)
  • 2+ years of K-12 teaching experience
  • Experience in underserved communities

Responsibilities

  • Teach Social Studies to 3-4 groups of scholars daily
  • Implement a research-based curriculum
  • Personalize instruction for scholars with IEPs
  • Create assessments and use data to ensure mastery of standards
  • Collaborate with peers to set data-driven academic goals
  • Cultivate a joyful and consistent classroom culture
  • Collaborate and co-teach with SPED teachers
  • Engage with scholars and families to build trust and rapport
  • Support family events and communicate scholar progress
  • Continuously improve teaching practice through professional development
  • Integrate into the school community and assume additional responsibilities
