Middle School Science Teacher

Position Purpose

In cooperation with parents, the Catholic school teacher is responsible for forming the whole person spiritually, academically, emotionally, social, and physically. The teacher models the Church’s values and beliefs through words and actions, teaching according to gospel principles and moral values.

Responsibilities

1. Promote teachings consistent with Catholic principles and conduct oneself according to Catholic moral standards.
2. Hold a valid diocesan teacher’s contract and Kansas teaching license.
3. Collaborate with the principal to build a faith community among faculty, staff, and students.
4. Carry out all teaching assignments and responsibilities as directed by the principal or outlined in the faculty handbook.
5. Develop a close working relationship with parents as primary educators.
6. Integrate moral values throughout the curriculum and activities.
7. Create a classroom environment that respects every child's dignity.
8. Implement diocesan curriculum, policies, guidelines, and programs.
9. Plan and execute instructional activities to help students achieve required outcomes.
10. Supervise students properly at all times.
11. Maintain professionalism in manner, appearance, punctuality, and performance.
12. Participate in professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness.
13. Fulfill diocesan policies on child abuse prevention (VIRTUS).
14. Refrain from using the school for personal gain through sales of goods or publications.
15. Conscientiously fulfill the teaching contract.
16. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal or central office administrators.

Qualifications

Kansas State Certification as a 6-12 Teacher.

Equipment

Use standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and telephones.

Travel Requirements

Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed.
