Job summary

AMS – Nellis Campus in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year, located at 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156.

Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction; develop students’ scientific reasoning and inquiry skills; differentiate and use data to guide planning and interventions.

Collaborate with grade-level teams, participate in PD, engage families, implement PBIS, and support Title I and multilingual learner communities.

Qualifications

  • Valid Nevada teaching license (NDE).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or related field.
  • Ability to manage a classroom and create a positive learning environment.
  • Commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities.
  • Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and instructional leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction.
  • Develop students’ scientific reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry skills.

  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen practices.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and expectations.

We're excited to provide the best education in the best environment to our students!**Academies of Math and Science – Nellis Campus****Middle School Science Teacher****Location: 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156** **Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year** **Compensation Range: $54,000 – $60,813 annually (DOE)**Position OverviewAcademies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven **Middle School Science Teacher** to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that develops students’ scientific reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry skills.AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, hands-on learning, and consistent use of data to inform instruction.The ideal candidate is committed to supporting students in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and creating a positive, engaging, and inquiry-based classroom environment.## Key Responsibilities### Instruction & Student Achievement* Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks* Develop students’ scientific reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry skills* Incorporate hands-on investigations, experiments, and real-world applications of scientific concepts* Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level* Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and targeted interventions* Prepare students for grade-level standards and assessments through engaging and purposeful instruction### Classroom Culture & Student Support* Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment* Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies* Maintain a safe and organized environment for laboratory activities and hands-on learning* Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development* Encourage curiosity, collaboration, and a love of scientific discovery### Collaboration & Professional Growth* Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities* Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices* Analyze student data and adjust instruction to improve student outcomes* Contribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvement### Family Engagement* Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations* Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships* Provide families with appropriate updates regarding student achievement, classroom expectations, and areas for growth## Minimum QualificationsCandidates must meet the following requirements:* Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE)* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Science, Education, or a related field* Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom and create a positive learning environment* Commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities* Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction* Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and instructional leaders## Preferred Qualifications* Previousmiddle school science teaching experience* Experience teaching life science, physical science, earth science, or related middle school science coursework* Experience working in Title 1* Experience supporting English Language Learners* Experience incorporating hands-on science investigations and project-based learning* Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred## Compensation & BenefitsAMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.* Competitive salary based on years of K–12 teacher-of-record experience* 401(k) retirement plan with employer contributions* Medical, dental, life, and disability insurance* Optional vision coverage* Performance bonuses and stipend opportunities* Professional development and instructional coaching* Opportunities for leadership growth within a growing multi-state networkJoin us to enjoy rewarding challenges and ongoing opportunities!### About UsAMS Schools are among the highest performing Title I schools in Arizona.
