Job summary

KIPP Tulsa seeks a dedicated science teacher to deliver a standards-based curriculum across an extended school day. You will collaborate with teams, develop year-long unit and lesson plans aligned to Oklahoma standards, and use assessment data to adjust instruction to meet every scholar’s needs.

You’ll engage families, participate in school events, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement while upholding our mission to serve scholars in underserved communities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with required certification for subject and level assigned.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the core subject area assigned.
  • Satisfactory outcome of a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop year-long Oklahoma standards-based unit plans and lesson plans.
  • Use assessment data to modify short and long-term plans to improve scholars’ performance.
  • Collaborate with teams to promote critical thinking and academic rigor.
  • Participate in school events and maintain relationships with scholars and families.

Job Description

Your job description responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, those set forth below as well as those described in the job description for your position on file with Talent/HR for the District and as may also be provided for in the employee handbook:

Working Hours

Start Time: 7:30 AM End Time (Mon–Thurs): 3:55 PM (if no O3s or tutoring; tutoring 1x/week) 4:55 PM on meeting days.

End Time (Friday): 2:45 PM (no PD days) and 4:45 PM (PD days)

Instructional Delivery and Assessment:
  • Develop year-long Oklahoma standards-based unit plans and lesson plans that meet all scholars’ learning needs.
  • Use assessment data to modify short and long-term plans in order to promote all scholars ’academic performance.
  • Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvement.
Academic and Cultural Support
  • Collaborate with content and grade-level teams to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with scholars and families based on trust and respect.
  • Participate in the daily functions of the school, such as morning, lunch, and afternoon supervisory duties.
  • Attend school events such as staff meetings, open houses, back-to-school nights, parent orientations, parent-teacher conferences, PTO events, and various other school events.
  • Develop individualized learning plans for students and communicate these plans to families in parent meetings and conferences.
  • Meet professional obligations, including timeliness and consistency in meeting deadlines.
Qualifications:
