Middle School Science Teacher (2025-2026 SY)
The Science Teacher at Westside Atlanta Charter School will play a vital role in igniting a passion for exploration and inquiry among students while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for families and the broader school community. This position requires collaboration with students, parents, administrators, and other stakeholders to enhance engagement in scientific learning and cultivate a culture of curiosity.
Promote and uphold the vision, mission, and core values of Westside Atlanta Charter School, focusing on imagination, rigor, and service.
Serve as an ambassador for inclusiveness, fostering an academic environment of excellence.
Demonstrate content knowledge and effective pedagogy by planning and developing student-centered instructional activities that encourage exploration, experimentation, and real-world applications of scientific concepts.
Differentiate learning activities in alignment with the diverse instructional needs of students and the Georgia Standards of Excellence and Next Generation Science Standards.
Structure content through the use of inquiry-based learning activities that progress from simple to complex themes while ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment within the science curriculum.
Design cross-curricular activities that align to our outdoor learning space.
Actively engage in faculty meetings, grade-level discussions, school board meetings, and professional development to promote a holistic approach to student growth and academic excellence in science education.
Build collaborative relationships with colleagues to plan and assess innovative, hands-on science learning activities, ensuring instructional objectives are aligned across grades and subjects while fostering a culture of inquiry and academic achievement.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or a related field with a focus on Science.
Current Georgia Teacher certification.
