Job summary

Education Management & Networks, Inc. (EMAN) is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year in Detroit. Oakland International Academy partners with EMAN to place dedicated educators in public charter schools serving Southeast Michigan.

You will plan engaging science lessons, assess student progress, and communicate with families to support student growth and college readiness in a diverse urban setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Integrated Science (DI) 6-12 Endorsement, or actively pursuing certification
• Strong classroom management, organizational skills, and commitment to growth
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with students and families

About the Role

Oakland International Academy is hiring for the 2026–2027 school year. You'll do more than teach core subjects: you'll help students from diverse backgrounds, including English language learners, build the skills and confidence to get to college and beyond.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Integrated Science (DI) 6-12 Endorsement, or actively pursuing certification through an approved pathway (see above)
• Strong classroom management, organizational skills, and commitment to growth
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with students and families

Preferred:

• Experience with Google Classroom, SMART Boards, or similar classroom tech
• Experience teaching multilingual learners or English language learners
• Competitive base salary plus a performance bonus up to $5,000
