Description

Saint John Fisher Parish School is a TK-8 school and a ministry of the St. John Fisher Parish Community in Rancho Palos Verdes. We are seeking a dynamic, professional, and experienced part-time Religion teacher for grades six through eight for the 2025-2026 school year.

Responsibilities

1. Exhibit knowledge of the Catholic faith, ADLA Religion Standards, instructional strategies, and classroom management for student success.
2. Understand the social-emotional and academic development of middle school students.
3. Collaborate and communicate effectively with Pastor, Parish staff, students, families, faculty, and school staff.
4. Coordinate preparation for school Masses and Stations of the Cross liturgies.
5. Prepare students for the sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent.
6. Coordinate an altar server schedule for daily weekday Masses.
7. Assist the principal with faith formation of students and faculty.
8. Help maintain the Catholic culture and identity of the school.
9. Facilitate adoration of the Blessed Sacrament by students.
10. Inspire a spirit of service among faculty and students.
11. Model Catholic values and bring faith to life in the classroom.
12. Implement and record completion of the ADLA Empowering God’s Children curriculum.
13. Coordinate an ADLA fingerprinting day for school volunteers and maintain related records.

Requirements

The minimum requirements are:

1. Proficiency in Catholic teachings and a commitment to integrating faith into the curriculum.
2. An undergraduate degree (BA, BS) from an accredited university or college.
3. A California Teaching Credential or equivalent from another state.
4. Full-time teaching experience.

The preferred requirements are:

1. An advanced degree (MA, MS) in Education.
2. Middle school teaching experience.

Wage Range

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are typically paid at the minimum or lower part of the pay range. Compensation considers factors such as skill sets, experience, training, and departmental needs.
