POSITION TITLE: Part TIme Special Education Paraprofessional

FLSA: Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS: Hold an Associates degree or higher; OR have passed or be able to pass the Praxis ParaPro Assessment.

REPORTS TO: Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 month, 182 days

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Implementa variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
• Assists teacher with conducting lessons, managing the classroom and developing materials
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Empower students through programs designed to enhance their academic and social achievements
• Work with computers and specialized AV equipment to make these resources available to the teacher during lessons
• Act as a nurturing and encouraging influence for students during lessons
• Monitor the classroom and minimize distractions and disruptions
• Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
• Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, division policy and administrative regulation.
• Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
