Crystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Middle School Math Teacher, anticipated for the 2025-2026 school year. The goal of this position is to help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible adults, and ensure that each student has a positive junior high educational and social experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement the course of study adopted by the Board of Education in math.
  • Instruct the students in basic subject matter as specified in state law and regulations, and stated in district regulations, expectations, procedures, and standards or performance.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Develop high quality, challenging objectives for student learning.
  • Insure that students are highly and actively engaged in their learning.
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best use the available time for instruction.
  • Communicate clear and accurate information.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Evaluate students’ academic growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports as specified by the district.
  • Communicate regularly with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress.
  • Identify student needs and adapt the classroom and teaching to the needs of health issues and/or problems.
  • Create an effective environment for learning.
  • Maintain professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Contribute positively to the life of the school and district.
  • Participate in the evaluation process with the appropriate administrator to improve performance according to the district’s evaluation plan.
  • Participate with the principal in selecting appropriate texts, materials, and instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records.
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the working day as assigned.
  • Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
  • Participate, as appropriate, in curriculum development programs.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License.
  • Elementary Education K-9 and/or Secondary 6-12.
  • Math Endorsement (MS/Grade 5-8).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
  • Student Teaching and/or experience in grades 6-8.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment and materials.
  • Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, interpersonal communication skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality, responsiveness, professionalism, and organization.
