Job summary

Milwaukee Academy of Science seeks a Paraprofessional to support licensed staff in an educational setting, assist with instruction, supervision, and data‑informed interventions, and help promote student growth in a K4‑12 charter school in downtown Milwaukee. Reports to the Building Principal and works with Junior Academy staff; contract is 198 days for first‑year staff or 195 days for returning staff.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or 60 credits from a District Approved College or University.
• Experience supporting students' educational, social and emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Understand the educational philosophy of the School and for carrying out the policies of the Board of Directors.
• Assist children with assignments.
• Assist the teacher with classroom management, clerical tasks, and other duties related to instruction.
• Assist students with computer technology, assistive technology, and media.
• Prepare classroom displays.
• Assist with the correction of student work.
• Tutor students in one‑on‑one or small group settings.
• Assist and supervise students in other activities as directed by the licensed teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality and good attendance, and work cooperatively with supervisors and staff.
• Assist with integration of students with special education into the regular classroom.
• Participate on school teams for curriculum development, data analysis, staff development planning, and materials selection.
• Plan for professional growth through staff development and coursework.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and administrators.
