Position Description

Rochester Christian School is seeking a full-time Middle School Math & Science Teacher who is passionate about both teaching and working with middle school students.

The Middle School Math & Science Teacher is responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective learning environment in which students are challenged academically, encouraged to grow in their faith, and cared for as individuals. The teacher will plan and deliver engaging instruction in mathematics and science, implement the school's curriculum and applicable state and national standards, assess student learning, and provide appropriate support and challenge for individual students.

The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm and strong content knowledge to the classroom while recognizing the unique developmental needs of middle school students. He or she will build meaningful relationships with students, foster curiosity and responsibility, and intentionally connect academic learning to a biblical worldview.

The teacher will work collaboratively with the principal and fellow faculty members, communicate appropriately with families, participate in faculty meetings and professional development, and contribute positively to the broader life of Rochester Christian School.

Responsibilities

• Teach middle school mathematics and science with enthusiasm, clarity, and intentionality.
• Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction that aligns with the school's curriculum and applicable State and National Standards.
• Integrate a biblical worldview naturally and meaningfully into instruction and classroom life.
• Establish a positive, purposeful, and well-managed classroom environment.
• Build strong, respectful relationships with middle school students and encourage their academic, spiritual, social, and emotional growth.
• Assess student learning and maintain accurate, timely records of student progress.
• Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate support and challenge for students with varying learning needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to support student learning and school-wide goals.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
• Follow and implement IESPs, 504 Plans, and other student support plans as applicable.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and other responsibilities expected of faculty members.
• Receive and thoughtfully implement feedback from school leaders and colleagues as part of ongoing professional growth.
• Contribute to the positive culture and Christian community of Rochester Christian School.

• The ability to creatively implement curriculum while meeting the standards outlined in that curriculum.
• A willingness and ability to integrate a biblical worldview throughout instruction and classroom life.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and classroom-management skills.
• The ability and desire to receive and implement feedback from school leaders and colleagues to become a more effective educator.
• Proficiency with Google programs; familiarity with Smartboard technology preferred.
• Middle school teaching experience preferred.
• Valid New York State teaching certification and a master's degree preferred.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university completed before employment begins.
