Job Description
Reports to: Principal of the Building of Assignment
Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Provides instruction in the assigned subject in an atmosphere that implements the philosophies of the district, school, and program.
- Learning Environment: Maintains an atmosphere that is conducive to learning.
- Lesson Planning and Organization: Prepares and maintains a plan of classwork and procedures to ensure that performance objectives and aims of instruction are being met. Organizes and structures materials for effective use of time. Plans lessons and implements activities aligned with the course of study and students' entry-level skills. Allows student participation in designing and selecting instructional activities.
- Student Well-being: Attends to the health, safety, and well-being of students.
- Assistance and Supervision: Provides assistance in supervision of students in curricular and co-curricular programs both in and outside the school. Cares for facilities and equipment. Prepares records, reports, and student evaluations.
- Individual Support: Offers individual assistance to students in their studies, personal matters when appropriate, educational and vocational decision-making, and recognizes and refers learning disabilities.
- Professional Development: Strives to improve performance through curriculum planning, professional meetings, in-service activities, selection of instructional materials, setting and achieving job targets, and performance evaluation.
- School Climate: Collaborates with all school personnel to ensure a positive climate conducive to the personal growth of staff and students.
- Parent and Community Engagement: Cooperates with parents or guardians through conferences, parent-teacher organizations, and other meetings.
- Program Support: Supports the Plain Local educational program and performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
