Job Summary

Middle School Language Arts and Literature Teacher - St. Margaret of Scotland

A Catholic Elementary School Teacher is responsible for fostering a Christ-centered, academically excellent learning environment that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student. The teacher will integrate Catholic values into all aspects of education, maintain high academic standards, and uphold the mission and vision of the school in alignment with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).

Job Responsibilities

Faith Formation and Integration:

  • Model and promote Catholic values in all interactions.
  • Incorporate faith-based principles into lessons and activities.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive environment reflecting Catholic teachings.
  • Participate in liturgies, prayer services, and religious celebrations.

Instructional Excellence:

  • Develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum, state standards, and NSBECS.
  • Use diverse teaching strategies, including differentiated instruction.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and a love for learning.
  • Integrate technology to enhance learning experiences.

Student Development:

  • Support students' spiritual, academic, and social-emotional growth.
  • Maintain high expectations for behavior and achievement.
  • Assess student progress with formative and summative assessments.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and colleagues about performance.

Community Engagement:

  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Support school events, activities, and service projects.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Valid teaching credential or certification appropriate for elementary education.

Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.

Strong knowledge of Catholic teachings and a commitment to faith-based education.

Experience teaching in a classroom setting, preferably in a Catholic school.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance instruction.
