Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid Para-Professional license or Professional Educator's License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Ability to follow teacher plans and support instruction in classroom settings.

Responsibilities

• Carries out teacher's plan for instruction for individual students and/or group work.
• Alerts teacher to problems or information about a student.
• Implements strategies designed by teachers to meet individual differences.
• Prepares materials for sessions under guidance of the classroom teacher.
• Works with individuals/small groups to review, reinforce, and expand skills.
• Supports teachers with interventions, accommodations, and modifications.
• Supervises learning groups with teacher's direction.
• Communicates student progress and needs to the teacher.
• Reviews assignments and organizes classwork and homework for the relevant students.
• Interacts positively with students considering individual differences.
• Uses confidential student information in compliance with District regulations.
• Assists with supervision outside the classroom.
• Assists students with self-help and health needs as necessary.
• Maintains classroom discipline and supports management as directed.
• Uses media and technology as needed.
• Participates in trainings and inservice meetings.
